After he had finished washing their feet, he took his robe, put it back on, and went back to his place at the table.

Then he said, "Do you understand what I have done to you? You address me as 'Teacher' and 'Master,' and rightly so. That is what I am. So if I, the Master and Teacher, washed your feet, you must now wash each other's feet. I've laid down a pattern for you. What I've done, you do. I'm only pointing out the obvious. A servant is not ranked above his master; an employee doesn't give orders to the employer. If you understand what I'm telling you, act like it—and live a blessed life."

Having been part of the New Age movement before becoming a Christian, I was aware of the fact that, generally speaking, most people who are involved in the New Age movement are those who are dissatisfied with the material and physical aspects of life & society, and are therefore seeking a higher meaning, purpose and reason for existence.

Essentially they are seeking spirituality, but for various reasons, are not interested in seeking this spirituality within mainstream religions. Therefore, they are attracted to the New Age movement, which offers a melting pot of philosophies and religions without the normal constraints or boundaries of mainstream religions.

The idea for New Age outreach stemmed from my desire to connect with these “seeking hearts”. I believed that they were being misled by the philosophies of the New Age movement, and consequently would never find the meaning and purpose in life that they were looking for. I had discovered for myself that New Age reasoning had so many flaws and inconsistencies, that there is usually and endless journey of questioning and seeking without any great conclusions. Personally, it was only when I accepted Jesus into my life as my Lord and Saviour, and renounced all other ideas without compromise, that my spiritual longing was satisfied, and I wanted to share that knowledge with others who were on the same journey.

footwash-kristen.jpgThis year we participated with Maroochydore Baptist Churches Christmas lights by washing about 200 peoples feet over 8 evenings.

Each night was different but specific for each of the people who were washing feet, particularly in regards to previous relationships. Children were the ones who opened the door for the parents to have their feet washed. We felt fulfilled after having washed peoples feet. Brought a personal touch to the Christmas lights and helped develop relationships with people.
